Is it still possible to get chromed steel Jota exhausts in the uk . Has anyone fitted and have pictures of the system Wolfgang supplies a

Kind Regards
Tetley

Tetley,

If you do find a source please fill me in on the details. My left chromed Campbell Jota silencer needs replacing. Campbell UK informs me that they have nothing to do with the defunct company that once made the silencers.

Gerald

BTW: if anyone has an unbaffled left Campbell Jota silencer they would like to sell PM me.

oops yes missed that important bit thanks Dick!!!!!!!!!

Ah but the Keihan parts are works of art. Not cheap but worth every penny. I am currently agonising over whether to satin black ceramic coat ( '79 Uk Jota spec) my current system that consists of original '79 black header pipes, brand new Keihan collector box and tidy used Campbells silencers ...

the stainless systems simply sound different and are heavier than the chromed ones. Was at the German T?V once when I had to register my Campells into the papers. Another 180? Jota owner was with me there, having stainless. I go the entry, he did not... :o Noise was different and way louder than mine (and mine have been tested at 110dB...).

Whatever you do Ally..jus' get on with it !!

Compared to my Brothers 79 Mirage using standard mild steel pipes, my kiehan stainless ones are more wooly and have a rounder edge to the note, his has more of a crisp bark,(I appreciate that the state of tune between each engine is different).
I personally find his much more likeable and offensive!.
:D :P :-*

I think their are some original chrome jobbies on Ebay Italy at the moment.

I have Keihans on my Jota (when I'm not running the Taswegian 3-into-1, and when the bike's not in bits ::)). They're only 3.5 inch diameter on the cans, the headers and collector are quite small, and the noise is only mildly offensive. I much prefer the Taswegian 3-into-1 system, makes small children cry, even Hoggly riders turn their heads (for an instant). The Keihans don't even look that good now that the headers have discoloured.

Wouldn't the head you have on the motor have more an effect on the sound than just the pipe? Assuming you are using a larger valve, it should be a louder exhaust sound or am I wrong with this thought?

well - the 3CL that was with me and had the stainless Jotas on has 38mm Inlet and - I think - 35 exhaust. Mine had an RGS type head at that time with 39,5 inlet and also 35mm exhaust valves - it was dramatically louder. That said, I did not check if it had the same length of Helmholz-tube than mine...
