Tetley with Laverda axles be careful to measure the diameter where the bearings are actually seated on the axle, they have a "precision" ground area on each side, and the rest of the axle is slightly smaller diameter. Ducati and Guzzi axles look similar but don't seem to have the different sizing, although apparently not even all Laverda axles were made this way.
It's hard to tell with a rusty old axle that's been in storage for years.
