Lav nuts and bolts

Both A2 and A4 should be salt-water resistant.  A4 is specified as being more resistant to acids...

AISI 304 = A2 steel - stainless not acid-resistant.

AISI 316 = A4 steel - stainless acid-proof.

With long-term contact with salt water should be used A4, which is also Approved for marine and offshore use.

Requires a little work, much cheaper solution and lasts:

I place a Bolt in a Drill Press to spin it and clean with wire brush & scotch bright and then do the flat surfaces on 400 wet Sandpaper placed on a Ceramic Tile and clean with Lacquer thinner. Paint with good old Tremclad Alu-Paint and bake in an oven. If a bolt gets shoddy you can touch up with Alu-Paint on the bike or pull the bolt & redo the procedure. Generally the Bolt, Nuts & Washers never require touching up if it hasn't been repetitively tampered with.

All my Nut's and Bolts are Laverda original to the bike.
