Laverda 700 El Cid

Just wondering if anyone out there would know the bore and stroke of the 700 El Cid prototype that was built after the OR600 Atlas bikes.  Wanting to know how much it had in common with the OR600 and what were the changes made to increase it to a "700" cc capacity..

Thanks,

Yogi

I don't know for sure, but it seems likely that it was 668cc, and used a bit of creative rounding up as per most other Laverdas (even the Atlas was only around 570cc).  The other prototype released at the same time as the ElCid - the Hidalgo - states capacity in the factory book as 668cc.  So probably a prototype version of the 668cc donk that would power the Zanini 650 (bucking the trend with a lower than actual capacity) and the Zane 668's etc, making it most likely 78.5x69.

Thanks Steve,

I thought that it might have been 668, hence the inverted commas around the 700.

Many thanks for bore and stroke.

Steve's right - here's the factory brochure spec - regards - Phil
