Hi all,
The two UK bikes are in parc ferme waiting for the off on Saturday...except that my Turismo now has a missing sump plug! The head just sheared off but luckily I could unscrew the remaining plug. I hope Cor has one in his pocket when the Dutch contingent land from Harwich tomorrow. As I type Cor and Gido should be setting sail.
Apart from the 101 things I should have done and haven't all being well we will be setting off at 11 am from Westminster Bridge on Saturday. The 100's + any outriders plan to assemble outside the Royal Hospital on the Embankment at 10.30. We will leave via the A2 and follow this down to Dover. If you're on the route then a friendly wave would be most welcome.
Last weekend the UK bikes were at Mallory, there is a report on the blog http://www.laverdaforhealth.org/blog/ from which you'll see that the project now has the support of Renata Laverda who will welcome us to Breganze and accept the cheque for Riders for Health. Donations have now passed the 3000 GBP mark so a big thanks to everyone who has contributed.
It's been a long road (sic) to get this far and despite my worries about what can go wrong I now can't wait to get going. I wonder what hand fate will deal us?
Hope to see many of you on route or in Breganze but if you can't be there remember to check out the blog for daily updates.
Nick
