Hello, I am new to the forum. I was just wondering what blinkers were fitted to a SF2, CEV's ? and would anyone know if these are hard to obtain and does anyone have any photo's of the stalks.
Regards
Jason

From pics off the net many didn't have indicators fitted, but those that do seem to have CEV fitted.

Original CEV are a bit hard to find these days, crappy half-decent Far East repros are plentiful, but fragile.

These are the originals that were on SF2 (and US version SFC). NOS ones, but fragile too.

G'day Jason. Welcome to the forum.

I see in another thread that you bought your SF2 from Tom the Wrecker. The mean bastard should have given you some indicators with it :D

Gowanloch Ducati and Eurobrit both have them for about $45 each but without stalks. Ian Gowanloch (the man, not the shop) might have some too, and would probably be cheaper. Worth a call to him anyway. Italspares (02) 6946 2626.

Bevel Heaven has them for about half the price of Gowanlochs but the freight from USA might make up the difference. At least they have an option to buy them with stalks for a bit extra cash https://store.bevelheaven.com/Electrics-Battery-Ignition/Turn-Signals-2-80mm-or-120mm-Stalk-DOT-Approved/

The rear indicators don't have stalks as such. The mounting is a piece of tube (painted black) that is bolted across the back of the number plate holder. The ends are threaded to fit the indicator bodies, and have lock-nuts. Same as the 3C. I dunno where you'd buy one, but it wouldn't be hard to make a copy.

No idea whether the above items are NOS or reproduction. Probably doesn't matter because the original ones were a bit crap anyway, so later repros are hardly likely to be any worse. They're just chromed plastic and the little thread bosses in the base where the lens screws on tend to break away. Most of mine have been repaired with epoxy.

You can get Lucas indicators that look very similar and are usually cheaper than CEV. I dunno whether these were ever fitted as original equipment on Laverdas.

I think Gowanlocks, the shop not the man, has stainless front  stalkes that look nice but are not original. The rear mount to comply with stupid ADRs oz design rules that dont apply anymore was crazy long hanging the blinkers way out there waiting to snag on any passing object. I cut mine down as short as would fit.

I have a brand new as well as a used rear stem as described by Cam. Black with threaded ends. Bolts to the rear number plate/tail light holder.
Have had these going back to the 70s. Interested?

Minimum separation distances apply to bike indicators. I looked it up a couple of months back when I was making up indicators for the RGS Mongrel. The present requirement in Tassie is 300mm. The rule isn't clear on where it's measured from so I interpreted it as centre distance. Queensland rules state 240mm between the inner edges of the lenses, which amounts to roughly the same thing as 300 centre distance. I presume other states have similar requirements.

Anyway, I had to mount 'em on stalks to achieve the specified separation.

Those integrated LED stop/tail/indicator units that you can get on ebay don't comply. Probably doesn't stop people using them, but they wouldn't pass muster if the bike went for a roadworthy inspection.

There are a fair few modern bikes with them a lot closer than that, there was a discussion on Netrider about this a while back. That site seems to be populated with hundreds of Public Servants and Lawyers who love reading and interpreting the minutia of written regs laws Standards and ever other pain in the arse law governing every bloody thing. Gets super tedious after reading the first 637 posts. They were looking at some gadget that combined a tail and brake light plus blinkers as well.It was tiny. That was a nutty as the latest clear lens fad, thats virtually impossible to see in bright sun. My rear blinkers are approx
280mm or so apart. Thats far enough to distinguish between each other.

Hello All, many thanks for the reply, I have and can get the CEV blinkers, its the stalks I am after. I know my headlight eras don't have the drilled hole to accommodate the front blinker stalks. the ears I got with the bike are a 2 part system with a rubber block. So I am not sure if these are sf2 or something else.

They mount through the hole each side in the headlamp shell.
No extra drilled hole required.
The rears attach to the threaded tube that bolts to the numberplate. Wolfgang will have everything you require.

Is the blue bike using the stalks directly through doubling as headlamp securing bolts?
The factory used rubber mounts for SF headlamps, the globe lasts much better with them.
SF2/3 had holes in one piece brackets (ears) for the stalks as you say (I think SF1 also), the earlier SFs had 2 piece brackets with rubber block between.

Yes, but the shell is attached to the triangles which are rubber mounted to the fork tubes.

SF2 and 3 should have 1-piece headlamp brackets, part #'s 50 203 152 and 50 203 153.  Parts book shows them undrilled for the indicator stalks.  Strangely enough, the stalks are threaded at one end only, for fitting to the bike, but the headlamp is shown mounted on Silentblocs.

Listed indicators are the clamp-on type as shown in Marnixs' photo.
