LED bulbs for Laverda instruments, etc?

has anyone tried LED bulbs in their Laverda?

I am thinking of trying to source bright LED's for the instruments, etc. Anyone have any good sources they have been happy with?

Tried them in several ducatis and Morinis, and have tail light LEDs but not turning indicators on both my SFC and JOTA. They are great since they are much more vibration resistant. On the Morini and Ducati I had to buy separate, 2 prong LEDs (bright white, 10000 lumens I believe) and had to solder them in to the stock mounts, since the bulbs for the dash lights were not standard ( I used standard red LED bulbs for the tail light, and standard clear bulbs for the indicators, with a resistor to trip the flasher relay). I believe I have a 100 or so of these separate, 2 prong leds, if anyone is intested. Just let me know and I'll fish them out,  just send me a self addressed bubble pack return envelope.

Don't know about anyone else but I really dislike bright lights on the dashboard as I prefer to keep my looking dead ahead, pulled the bulb out of the high-beam warning lamp on a couple of my BMW's as it was a distraction as will having the clocks lit up like a christmass tree I would imagine.

+1 on that, in fact I'm thinking of turning my clocks the other way as the high beam light seems brighter than the headlight and really bloody distracting !

Can't recall having an instrument bulb blow in the past 30-odd years of Laverda ownership... found a lot in other peoples' Lavs though, dunno how they do it. ???

With Keith, the stock subdued lighting is more than bright enough.

My RGSs instrument lights (ie the lights behind the fancifully named rev 'counter' and the possibly more accurate speedo) can only be seen on the blackest of black nights.  I wouldn't mind pepping them up a bit...

I used LED bulbs when I rebuilt the speedo and tach and they work fine..    I tried an LED bulb in the taillight, but got intermittent performance out of it - ie sometimes it lit up, other times it didn't.    Went back to incandescent.

Cheers, Tim

I'm using this bulb in tail light led with good results.

For the headlight I am following this show, but I'm not sure its complexity.

The power consumption is 25 watts.

Saludos.

Had the same problem as Reggie on my RGS, put LED bulbs in the instrument pod a couple of years back,.
Now I can see how fast I'm going and have a chuckle as the rev counter waves at me.

I got some that push into the holder, just have to get them the correct way round for them to work.

Well I fitted LEDs in the dash for idiots lights. The flashers are useful being bright as I have a habit of leaving them on. The green neutral light is bright which I don't mind as it tells me the ignition switch is on [as long as It's in neutral] as my key is down near the engine breather. But, the blue high beam light is way too bright so I'll have to replace it with a less intense one.

+1, still run the original bulbs in the 3CL.
