Master cylinder cunundrom

Brand new front master cylinder on 880SFCK has had a way slow weep/leak form around the plunger area .......... removed offending plunger and looked down the cylinder looking for something obvious. All good, by eye. Coated a screwdriver with rag and inserted it into cylinder, a few turns and wipes and out came small but long pieces of swarf.  :o

I've wiped it out again and blasted the hell out of it with compressed air.

Should I:
A: Put it all back together and hope that's what it was.
B: .................... Wait for further suggestions here.

This may help yet again it may not. Had a slow leak from my clutch master cylinder in the same area as yours. Turned out that the piston hadn't been pushed fully home. Might pay to give the retaining washer (with an appropriate tube) a gentle tap or two to make sure it's fully seated. HTH.

Had to Google HTH. No it doesn't.
Everything is held in by a circlip. It's all BTN now, lets see IISLN.  :D

BTN = Back Together Now ........ IISLN = If It Stops Leaking Now.  :D

A...'cause its your ass and not mine  :D
me, i'd check the seal for any damage caused by said swarf
then A
but you've already done that

Didn't leak any worse under lever pressure, so had to be the secondary seal. Thanks for the words of wisdom though.

Well, I put it back together, tried to bleed them for an hour without any lever pressure.
What I did did was the plastic nipple that takes the rubber hose wasn't seated in the o ring properly. Fitted larger o ring and had them bled within 15 minutes. I think I found the problem, could it be that the o ring sealing actually created a air void between the two seals on the plunger, hence cause the fluid to leak past the seal closest to the lever end of the plunger?

Still shouldn't have had swarf inside a brand new M/C. Did that with the screwdriver didn't you, eh?
