Master cylinder rebuild

Hi,
Stripping front and rear cylinders.
Are the pistons free to be pulled out or is there a retaining clip/pin/circlip?
They seem to have a very solid ?stop? so I don?t want to force anything
Thanks

Oh dear,
I have stripped both front and rear cylinders and the front does not appear to be an original Laverda part despite having a Brembo cap...the casting boasts "Made in Japan" and the piston and seals are nothing like the one that Mr Slater sent me in the post today.
The piston was also extremely difficult to remove as it had a retaining circlip, which I wasn't expecting.
What have I got?

Dunno, but it's interesting that a Brembo cap fitted it. I'd be having a close look at the M/Cs on some old Jap bikes from the 70s. Think Honda CB750 or Kawasaki Z1 era. In the 80s, most bikes went to rectangular reservoirs with 4-countersunk screws in the cap.

Is the Brembo cap one of the aluminium ones with the triangle on it. If so, you could sell it, buy a whole new master cylinder and pocket the change  :D

Unfortunately, it's plastic  :(

Looks a bit like Kawasaki Z900 Master... at least the rebuild-kit here looks similar:
