guessing it's a 130 but how's it fit? Photo anyone?
Since the 4LS Grimeca brake up front weighs 21lbs without the rim I'm going to run a 100/18 front to lighten up the steering and thinking of pairing it with a 130 rear... thoughts?

100/90 is the std size for the front ... haven't tried a 100/80 on a triple
but have used 110/80

120/90 is about max for a 2.15" rim width
a 130/70 or 80 will have the sidewalls pinched in so it won't put any more rubber on the ground
many vintage race guys use a 130/650 with cantilevered sidewalls
i think cantilevered sidewalls go back to the early days of formula ford
not street legal but very sticky

you can get WM4 (2.50") and WM5 (3.00") flanged borrani replicas from motocicliveloci

Thanks Scott, never heard of a cantilever sidewall had to do a search,
pretty interesting.
I'll probably stick with the 120... though that hoosier looks pretty mean. Yikes!!

Have a look at Avon  www.avonmotorsport.com/historic-tyres-range/motorcycle  click on a tyre and the chart gives recommended rim sizes, AM23 is best.

I believe Avon developed their cantilever for classic racing as rules limit the rim size in a lot of the classes.

They did have a large chart not long ago that listed rim widths and suitable tyre sizes but no longer there; under individual tyres now.
I admit to not reading your post properly, only registered the 130 bit.

Am26 100/90 but 19" recommended rim width is 2.15 to 2.75, don't know what that is in WM sizing but hope it helps.

Don,

A 90/90 tyre would be ideal for a 1.85/WM2 rim... :o

The stock 2.15/WM3 fits a 100/90 nicely, speedo will also work correctly.  110/80 will also fit, but would be happier on a 2.50/WM4 rim.

110/90 is quite meaty and can create clearance issues if the front mudguard is a bit low/tight.  Otoh, a 100/80 looks a bit lost...
