mirage cam timing again

... 85 miles to a tankful ...

Don't worry Dave. When I first got my Jota, it was doing about the same (130 to 140 km per tank). DPO had 135 main jets in it. A dyno run revealed that it was way too rich at WOT and only making about 60 HP at the rear wheel.

120 mains got the air/fuel mixture closer to the mark and gave a marginal increase in RWHP, but didn't make much difference to fuel consumption (bikes don't spend much time at WOT on the road). Balancing the carbs made it a little bit better, but  the big improvement came when I dialled in the 4C cams. Fuel range suddenly jumped to 200 km (130 miles) per tank, and it was making 80 RWHP.

Later on I put a set of Mikuni RS36 carbs on it which didn't make a lot of difference to horsepower, but pushed the fuel range out to about 260 km (160 miles).

Keep fettling. You'll be rewarded in the end.

Last time I went down to where 3X used to be they had closed the unit which had the Italian bikes in and basically all I could see were a Triumph dealer and scooter shop. It's a long way from Cornwall too by the way.
