I have a 1982 Mirage TS (#3594). I want to buy a front end stand to lift the front end off the ground to wheel replacement and other work. Pit Bull makes what I want. however, they want to know what the size of the hole is on the lower triple tree so that they can make me a plug to go in there.
Does anyone know the diameter and depth of the hole?
Thanks, Myke

Hole in the stem is 18mm so get your plug made to 17mm to avoid binding.

Just for the record I don't have all of this info memorised, I just measured one..  :)

so am I, here I was thinking, damn, that Keith is good, remembers everything, nearly

:D

When I bought mine (from M&P I think) it came with a bag full of adaptors to suit a variety of stem IDs.
Just picked the right one and all was well.

I am looking for some future use for all these shiny bits one day.
A hoarder, moi????

Ah, wondered what the 'warehouse incident' was when I was searching for clip ons.

Hi Reggie, from what I can gather the 'warehouse incident' is a total loss, burned to the ground shop. I was there on Saturday eyeing up stuff I could buy on their upcoming open day (only live about 15 miles away), must think of a plan B then.

Why bother?
when you have removed the front wheel the bike will sit on its centre stand and rear wheel, more so when the forks are out.If you are working on your bike on a hydraulic lift, just put a security strap across the seat to hold the back down, if you are working on the ground, then a heavy weight, such as a bag of sand on the saddle will do the same thing.

Easier to remove both wheels at the same time. Not sure if a front stand is recommended with only a centrestand holding up the rear.
Certainly can't be used only on it's own.
Now I have front and rear stands I wonder how I managed for so long without them.
Just like I find the bike table indispensible. No more aching back bending over.

Grant, is there a link for that M&P stand?

The M&P site seems to be down at the minute but this one on Demon Tweeks website is very close to the one I have.

I may even have bought it here rather than M&P come to think of it.
