Mirage TS Relay

In trying to spot and remedy a fault to parking light function on my 81 Mirage I realised there was Bosch relay in the lighting circuit which doesn't appear on the wiring diagram. The diag I use, is the one for "late triples with BTZ ingtion" in Tim Parker's book.
I bypassed the relay (which is faulty) and lights functional again. 
Just wondered if anyone can tell me what the relay is for? It sits in the parking light circuit only I think?

Are you looking at the diode that stops the ignition circuit being powered when the parking lights are selected from the ignition switch?

This will be the relay fitted to models with the 20w bulb for daylight running. If you have the standard 4w bulb then it can be dispensed with.
