  The right-hand plug cap was no longer making a good connection with the plug wire. 

That would cause a coil to warm up...

Actually Cam, you get a prize too - if I hadn't changed the plugs per your direction I wouldn't have messed round with the plug cap which caused the plug to stop sparking entirely...giving me a static problem to work on instead of the intermittent state I had before so...well done!

The main thing is you found the problem and a bonus carb rebuild in the process.

Your fuel problem was electrical! Do I get third prize?
How many times has that conundrum happened before on this forum?
