I would remove the switch..best done when you change the engine oil..there are some shims under the switch you will need to keep in order too.

The plastic element in the switch leaks where it lost its seal with the metal. I use a product called "JB Weld"..a two part epoxy that is very temperature resistant. I clean up the exposed switch external area with "BrakeClean" and fill in the plastic with JB Weld..especially careful to smear the stuff so it fills around the plastic-metal connection. Leave the center screw post top area alone so the neutral lamp ground wire can make good contact.

Leave the switch out overnight for the epoxy to cure completely.

The working side of the switch (the part that is exposed to the gearbox) should not be sealed..the plunger need to be free to do its job.

I should have added that I have ordered a new switch ,just wanted to have a spare ,phoned motalia and was informed that ralph has had a knee replacement and work done on his leg ,he may not be back for 3 to 4 weeks spoke to a lady who managed to sort out a switch when I gave her the part No

Not to mention only one switch too, lucky, it was the last one on the shelf......there'll be no more to come !.
