New owner and fitting indicators

I recently acquired a 1975 Laverda 1000 3C, *3006*. The bike is matching numbers and appears to be in good unrestored condition. There was some debate on this forum last year about whether the bike was original given that it has the Borrani wire wheels but the rear fairing piece behind the seat, something that was not sold by the factory. My own take on this when buying the machine, and based on substantial experience with Morgan cars, is that when machines are handmade and in limited quantities oddities do occur. Particularly around the time of changeover models.

In any event I'm extremely happy with the bike. It was not running well at low revs when I bought it and the seller advised that the cars probably needed a clean. He was absolutely right since having now stripped the carbs down, cleaned them in an ultrasonic cleaner, and rebuilt with new seals (bought from PaddyDucati, a really helpful buy) the bike now ticks over evenly and starts warm without any choke.

I have now acquired some original CEV indicators that I'd like to fit. Can anyone advise if there is already a flasher unit installed on the bike (haven't seen one yet) and if so where it is fitted. The left hand controls have the indicator switch so I'm kind of hoping there is some wiring provision.

Lastly my wife and I live in SW France, halfway between Montauban and Auch. If any Laverda owners are in that neck of the woods and need help with a spanner, don't hesitate to get in touch via this site.

Cheers

Philip

I think the 3C had the flasher unit in the headlamp shell. Later ones have it down by the right sidepanel.
Just get a wiring diagram and follow the wires in the shell.

There's a forum member in Montpellier, and I am in Madrid by the way.

+1.

It's in the headlight shell.

If it has been removed you need one as small as you can get, you will see why. I use one of these www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lucas-SFB115-Flasher-Unit-for-Mini-Scimitar-MG-B-Sprite-Midget-etc-GFU2125-/191236032154

If it is in the headlamp shell it's not a bad idea to move it out to a different location. Anything you can do to give you more room in the shell is a good thing. I put mine behind the right hand side cover, its not difficult to do. :) Stuart
