Good,I m happy with the originals on the Sprint,so I'll stay with "em on the TS.

Personally, l like a bit of pit bull fighting, badger baiting, hedgehog sandwiches, and some manhole cover thieving,

braided hoses go with the territory really..............

:D :D :D Eric , you've left out bare knuckle fighting and weighing-in catalytic converters...

(Cough cough) Now returning to the actual thread ... I can see that braided hoses may be a bit of an overkill and rubber hoses may be quite adequate, but I feel pretty strongly that 35 year old rubber hoses are long since overdue for replacement.
I had a rubber heater hose burst on my car last weekend, I thought I'd fried the motor. Fortunately it seems to be OK, but the guy who checked it out for me said I have to replace the rest of the 13 year old hoses 'cos they're all likely to go any time. Higher temps and pressure yes but the idea is the same, natural rubber just doesn't hold up well over time. No way I'll still be driving my Honda/Acura when it's 35 years old, but I am driving my 35 year old Laverda, with original rubber hoses.
What sort of hoses does Piero use on his spaceframe? I bet they're not rubber!

the hoses on Piero's space frame are a lot longer as well, and they can give a lot of trouble if you fit the wrong type, (ask Rufus!) the higher you put that oil cooler the harde the oil pump has got to work to "push2 the lube over it and into the motor, so be carefull.

by the way, a "pikey" does generally do all those things stated in post 5 or 5  and more besides, the term is used to describe less than desirable citizens quite correctly but the word "gypsey" has become badly used, a real gypsey does not do those things, nor would an Innuit (eskimo) or Sami (Lap) I know a few of all of those last categories including real gypsey's, Ronnie Wood is one of them from a familly of water gypseys, and the last in his line to be born on board a boat

Under all the fancy braiding there's just normal rubber, usually not even reinforced.  Relies on the pitiful braiding for reinforcement, which is not very much.  Won't last a day longer than un-braided!

A good oil line will have a fabric reinforcement layer between 2 rubber layers, sometimes even 2 fabric layers for high pressure hoses.

Teflon hose with a braided steel covering are taking over in many places in competition cars, saving weight in the process.  Not as flexilble though.
