Oil leak - fix?

Hi all,

I have a weird leak, more of a seep, via at least one and possibly three of the crankcase stud bolt holes at the front of my 1200T's engine cases.

There is a nice straight line of seepage across the front of the crankcase at the stud/nut height, so about 25mm or so below the crankcase joint, seems concentrated at the centre stud/nut. I assume oil has travelled down the stud and exited past the nut. Oddly, there is no oil at the horizontal crankcase joint - well, not yet anyway, I guess there's still time for that..

I'm thinking of undoing each nut, one at a time, applying a sealer under the washer and doing them back up. Wondered if anyone else has experienced similar weirdness, and whether there's a better solution.

Cheers,

Simon

those studs are installed in blind holes, so in theory they do not have oil any where near them, I would say that there is damage to the joint face, but on the inside face where the joint splits around the studs, that is the only way that oil can get to drain down the threads, it is common, as people use crowbars and jack hammers to get the cases apart for serious internal maintenance, and if they are going to do that, who knows how good their reconditioning skills are.
