Paintcode - help needed

Hello,

today I need a bit of your help for a friends restoration project, please. He is restoring a 750 SF just like the one standing in Cor's lovely museum:

He wants to bring it into the same shape and look like the one above and lacks some info on the paint code. I have asked Cor for his help, but unfortunately the painter that did this paintjob is not in business anymore and the piece of metal that Cor used as a sample was given to someone who never brought it back.

So - if anyone of you gentle chaps out there has done a restoration with the same or very similar color and has taken some notes about the color code used, would you please share that info with me so that Michael can go on with his project?

Thanks a lot in advance!!

Lothar
P.S.: yes, I checked Laverdamania, but gold is exactly the color missing in the listing...

Hi JLO,

yeah - I know... if you don't know - who does? (especially as Laverdapedia seams to be turned off now completely, although BillM had promised differently; only link working is the one to the forum now, hope the other content is not lost  :-[).

Found out that Lechler once produced a paint that is called LAV 11 - Giallo Oro FC 750, which they still can provide. I don't have access to an example of that paint, but it might well be the one we are searching for (though the year listed is 1999, but the Breganze paintcodes all do have LAV plus 2 digits of number and the Zane codes do have 5 or 6 digits...).

Anyone with connections to a LECHLER partner who could check?

thanks

Hi Lothar

I am pretty sure Red and others have most, if not all, of the former content of the WIKI, including the translations, but as Red has been busy seemingly emptying parts of Europe of Laverda's the last while, I haven't been bothering him. Hopefully eventually we can restore that material here, as we were able to save the Laverdapedia forum content and already host that prior forum content here...

Hello Lothar a.o.

Ask Cor if he will be so kind to make a scan from that paint (sidepanel). Then you have exact that color. I have resprayed my '81 (front)fender from the Jota and before that a scan told that the exact color is also used now for the Lamborghini Arancio Ymir. The result is 100 %. So there is also a chance that the paint of Cor's 750 is still used by some (car)factory and if not then you have still the incredients to make that kind of paint.

Cor has offered already to let his painter make a scan and get the paint made. Point is that he won't tell which color comes closest, as he wants to sell paint...

Scott: will look into that. Ferrari sounds expensive, though...  ;)

Lothar,

The RAL K7 Classic Color Fan shows two colors that could well be what you're looking for: RAL 1004 Goldgelb or RAL 1032 Ginstergelb. Your local paint supplier should be able to mix these colors in their specific air-dry technology.

There's also RAL 1005 Honiggelb, but that appears to me to have too much of a green cast to it.

Hope this helps,

Sheldon

I search this color for a long time to restore my first Laverda (71).
My painter has found something very close to Fiat and Citroen.
But I will also see Ford (Focus 2011: "mustard yellow")

Tom Eatman (Cycledoctor in Germany) just told me that he has fund a ref for the metallic gold colour, he got the original gold paint underneath the tank and used this as a reference point. He then found a color used on Suzuki 750s that comes damned close. It is Suzuki Oro Met 118B as used on the GSXR750R. I have seen the result, very nice and once again very very close. Now included in Laverdamania, paint code page. Credit to Tom of course, thanks to him!
