park / side light for MOT?

The park / side light bulb is not working (bulb tested ok). I have the bosch egg shape headlight on a early SF.

Is this required for MOT pass?

I have no need for a side light really, and never used one,

oddly the headlamp bulb 'mounting socket' has two small spring mounted terminals where the park light bulb makes contact via copper strip, but these terminals have no wiring connected - is this missing / correct?

I may have this wrong, but my understanding is that you do need a parking light/sidelight unless you have hard wired/permanently on, headlights.

Not sure about Andy's response. Maybe I'm not understanding exactly what he means.

The reason in my mind is that the starter motor needs all the juice it can get from the battery. If the battery is marginal, any power drain elsewhere could make a difference.

my experience comes from restoring an American issue Yamaha Vee max for resale, it came with no side/parking lights fitted to the bike, but the headlights were hard wired/permanently on and that complied, it was fitted with re;lays to kill everything except the starter motor when that button was pushed, and I go with cam on that.

The USA indicators? now that is a different story.

I'm starting the bike with lights off, ignition key just pushed down. Ignition key turned to switch headlamp main bulb on, which I've hard wired to side light, just so all bulbs work come MOT time- so no need for relay?
