peaing green

Ok the green side panel is at the paint guys place, it will be examined with a spectrometer(?) this week.
By the way, what a fabulous job he has done on my knackered tank and panels. I'm stunned!

Ok the answer is.......there is no answer.
The paint people could not come up with an off the shelf answer.
Of the two nearest matches, one was slightly too light and the other slightly too dark.
Total failure! Sorry about that.
Regards Pat

That's why I went wth Opel Apple green. Nothing off the shelf.
Although in this day and age, with all their colour computers it shouldn't be beyond the wit of man to match an exact colour sample. Grrr.

well thanks for the feedback. which of these did you choose in the end?
Might as well go for red then. I've a set pristine side covers and tail in a deep crimson. Just need an exact match for the tank to complete it.  I like the green better, red's too ducati.

Not sure I quite understand this thread......my friend is a paint sprayer and mixes paint to match the colour of the vehicle. He resprayed a new rear door on my car and said the original code was no good, as he needs to match the 10 year old colour, not the original. Result was a perfect match. Same with my Caravelle when he sprayed the arches.......perfect match to 14 year old paint.

All you need is an original panel or fragment to work too... (bigthumb)

Well mix the two of them together. FFS it's not that hard.

Apologies if that sounded a bit rude, but really is it that difficult?

All Paint Supplies, in Newbury use a spectro-phototometer for colour matching. Once analysed the reading gives a formulation to mix a matching paint. Over nearly 15 years working with them this has worked fine.

However this only works with flat colour, Mirage metallic green etc. are more tricky!

Now if I hadn't sent that knackered old tank of mine to Singapore, I would have been able to give you a definative...

Kind regards,
James

Spot on James .

My paint dude works a Salford Uni and matched my Mirage colour (note correct spelling ) he used a mass spectromitor and came back with a black base coat with a flick over with a silver flash ,,,,, The green is then applied ....

I have two side panels a tail piece in this colour and they are perfect

Mingh wanted the paint code for his bike in Belgium.
I'm getting the original green panel painted silver in the UK.
The idea was to identify the original colour so Mingh could go and buy some.
I could have got some paint mixed to exactly match the colour but I dont want a green bike.
Does that explain things?
