Finely got my new 30% harder rear springs for the MAZ on the Pantah, raw steel. So does the heating process have any effect on rear shock springs.Goody I get a color choice. .Yellow to match the bike or boring black

In my experience, yes.
Had a pair professionally restored 10 years ago and one spring ended up half an inch shorter than the other.

Interesting, the powder coating bloke said he had done a lot and IN HIS EXPERIENCE not a problem.
I laughed at the exclusionary language. He said they get heated to 200c,not a huge temp when speaking of metal but taking the temper out of a spring, maybe.

Hey Vince go buy a spray can and some wax and grease remover... Cost about 20 bucks...

Save yourself a heap of money and don't let your springs get cooked to 180 degrees Celsius.

Ooh ooh ........ while I was at the wheel works there was a brochure advertising powder coat removal, non-sandblasting. I'll get the address, it's in Boundary Rd Acacia Ridge Qld.

More info to follow.

I had the (rusty) chrome springs on my old 250RS H**** powder-coated 12 years ago.............still look good after many 1000's of miles.
