Interesting article on a topic oft discussed-suspension upgrades.

Nice article, but why spend all that dosh for emulaters, springs and all that hardening etc when you could spend less at Maxton and have real cartridge forks for possibly less cost?

Just a thought.

BTW I fitted Racetech emulators as reasonably cheap but didn't go the springs etc. Bought a very nice pair of Maxton rear shocks but.

couple of months ago we had to re-convert a set of 81 Jota forks from cartridges back to standard set up but now using Racetech Emulators and Eibach springs
cartridge conversion did not work out, was done by an "expert" suspension shop in Sydney at huge expense to the owner, wallowed like a pig and had oil pouring out of the forks at both ends, he was not happy

One good reason for not using the Maxton cartridge inserts is that they refuse to sell them to USA residents. Scared of a bit of litigation, eh?

Forks on my Mirage were terrible (ie dangerous) when it arrived as 'completed' from a dealer in the UK (mentioned in another thread in the Suppliers section) a couple of years back. Red and Mark overhauled them for me (I hadn't a clue what I was looking at) and fitted new springs and Race Tech Gold emulators. Was the best bang-for-buck spent on the bike yet and went a long way to giving me some confidence in the bike: big thanks to the Redax crew 8)

The new Wilburs piggy backs a few years ago now are fab, never really thought about the forks beyond new springs oil and and a service by Keith, incidentally resulting in removal of fork brace!suspect money better spent on improving rider not forks

Came across this site a week ago and sent my $570 AUS to see what they're like. I bought the GS AR 03 shocks. Nitrogen filled, floating piston and adjustable length and rebound.

What weight bike and rider are they designed for?

Designed for anything. You tell the bloke what you want and he builds them. I've got no idea what's inside, it could be a copy of a Maxton or an Ohlins for all I know. I just hope it has a lot of rebound control because I reckon this is the problem with most shockies.

Mine are for a 74 Ducati 750 with a 90kg (ish) rider. Icon springs fit if you want to play around with it.
