Rear Master Cylinder query.

Has anyone used a Zane rear master cylinder, (13.5mm) with the stock Triple rear caliper and the Factory rear sets? (82 TS Mirage).
Mounting it will prove no problem, but if someone has tried it and it is not a viable proposition I will think again.

not tried the 13.5mm unit but have used a 12mm master on a couple of RGS/RGA bikes and using that master with standard Laverda rear brake gear, all of a sudden the rear brake starts to work
wonders of modern technology

Depends how much rear brake you want - I've used a Kawa Z1000 (14mm I think) on both an 08 and the much smaller rear calipers (not sure the model des) and they suited my purposes. I'll be using a Bembo off an R6 Yamaha on the smaller caliper on the latest version of my SF (think it might be 12mm). Cheap from wreckers and pretty universal in fitment with a few mods, so no drama to try a few out!!

Hi Spider, I think you will be just fine.

Standard hydraulic ratio is 12.8:1
With your 13,5mm master cyl you will be at 15.8:1
I use a P9 caliper with a standard a standard master and that is 20.5:1      Still not too fierce, I can lock the rear, but with a fair bit of effort, so it's still safe enough in 'panic' moments.

Thanks for the replies gents, I have also purchased a cheap as chips 12.87 bore one from E Bay, (given the price, I might get another to strip for seals as and when they wear out  :D)both type use the same mounting system and reservoir type, (a few mm out on the bolt spacing, but nothing a slotted hole in the mounting bracket won't cure) so as and when I fit it all up, I can try for the one that is better for my preference.
