rear shocks rebuild

Hi
Any one got any suggestions how to compress rear shock springs of Jota 120 and how to put back together without marking the powder coated spring.

If you are strong enough and have the spring preload on the softest setting you maybe able to pull the spring down and slip the collet under the top of the shaft cap.

I took mine to a suspension bloke who had a spring compressor and paid him $30. After that, I saw someone make one out of a really good quality steel Silicon gun. I could do long travel dirtbike springs with a couple of thick Philips head screwdrivers through the springs, not a chance with the spring strength of road shocks. Do it badly and you can hurt yourself really easy

Just put some tape on the spring compressors and you'll be fine

Use tie down straps, the kind used to secure bikes on trailers.
Through the eye at the bottom of the shock and around the spring at the top.

Like Paul says, but if you are an old wimpy retired office guy like me you may need an extra set of hands. If you can, lock the bottom of the shock in a vice when you compress it with the strap.
