Rearsets

I have posted 3 pictures in Gallery, not sure what I was doing I expected them to come up in 3C, however they appear in recent posts.
They are there, and of course also qualify as 'Recent additions'!

Hi JC131

Very neat, but I have to say, for safety's sake, that those rear facing plates don't look strong enough to me. Be sure to test them well by jumping up and down on the pegs!

Footrests do need to be bulletproof. It's not funny if they break. A mate of mine had a footrest snap off at about 100 km/h (Yam R1) when he stood up on the pegs to stretch his legs. Almost before he knew what had happened, he was somersaulting down the road. He escaped serious injury thanks to his fully armoured leathers, but the bike was written off.

I have to agree - the fitting plate will be subject to considerable vibration and apart from the discomfort factor, could quite easily break. The more rigid you can make the footpegs the less vibes they will transmit. Nice work though!

Yes I considered making the plates thicker, however at 6mm they seem very strong, I can put all my weight on one and jump up and down. The bolts holding to the frame are 12mm, and the cap screws holding the pegs the plates are 10mm. Much stronger than on a lot of modern bikes. I use similar techniques on the bikes I race, admittedly not Laverdas and lighter, but have tested them by binning the bike and slidding down the track, and all they do is wear away!!

I make all my footrests from 1" (25mm) polypropylene bar - virtually indestructible and v cheap - also "self  nylocking"- more importantly they will not damage the mountings - cost is ?1 ish per rest! I also never use any cast alloy - seen too many people miss races because of this! Probably not bling enough for most owners, but so practical!1 - Regards - Phil

Glad to see that you have the brake on the correct side Phil  :D

Obviously the fixing bolt would give it a bit of reinforcement. What size and length of bolt do you have poking up through the middle of the plastic bit?
I'm guessing it's not an M6 x 20mm.

Looks a bit like a std factory Jota one - i have one on my SF - but I don't think it has AG stamped on it and the Jota ones are a dull finish, not polished. I made a similar shaped one out of a broken Sf lever - lots of filing then had is softly sandblasted. Cam out looking very similar but will probably not age as well, as i didn't anodise it.

Good luck finding a genuine Jota one!
