red lining for the 1200TS

Guys, a fellow Laverdista from the German forum wants to restore his 1200TS to original state. All body-parts have been painted black and he wants to get it back to silver with the red lining.

I know that Grant and others have done the stickers for the Jota. Does anyone know if similar stickers are available for the 1200 TS somewhere, please?

thanks a lot

Lothar
P.S.: and please: don't question why, he simply wants it that way...

I only have decals for the original 1200 (stripes) or Laverda/Jota/Mirage/Montjuic decals.

Thanks, Grant, that was what I was assuming.

Looking at the pictures, I guess it isn't that hard to copy, as it follows (mostly) some defined lines...:

when I did mine
I had a local sign shop lazer cut a sheet of crimson to the correct widths and used a "wasted" crimson line for the correct spacing. My (very dextrous) son then painted the body work, layed on the lines using a second set of plastics etc as a match, and then clear lacquered the whole caboodle, I sold on the remaining sheet of stripes to LJ Shaun, who found that they had "gone off" sorry about that Shaun, never have put that one right, but there is time.

Be aware that there are two configerations for the side panels, the one shown in your picture and a different one that incorporates the "Mirage" badge, which is the preferred one in my opinion.

Thanks, Clem.

are these normally painted or just a sticker like with the Jotas, please? Mirage I think was a TS but not for the German market (French/UK I think).

If painted, there is a masking tape for the two lines available from 3M:

but with that one, it is not so easy to get the curves right I suppose...

Hi Lothar

on my 82 1200 TS, very original and low mileage when acquired, the red striping was all pin stripe tape, presumably from the factory.

I found matching double pin stripe tape from a local supplier. When I redid paint and stripes I used the pin stripe tape. A couple of the tighter curves took some patience.

as I was not sure if I was going to keep the red striping, I did not clear over the tape.

In the end my painter pinstriped them himself, in paint, he does custom work and had the tool for the job, came up well didn"t they Clem.

Paul is correct for originality, ex factory they are self adhesive stripes

Shaun's bike (TOG2) looked very good, as was the first 1200TS that I had seen correctly repainted other than TOG, most repaints (if done in the silver) never do get the stripes at all, or are horrendously wrong, too thick, both the same width, wrong layout etc, and even worse than that is if that bodywork gets repainted in another colour.

I haven't seen pictures of PLC's bike, but I would like to.
