Removing rear caliper

Well haven't had a moment like this for a while.

Went to take rear brake caliper off the disk so I could properly bleed it as even vacum pump can't shift the air in the system.

Anyway for the life of me I can't see how to get it off as one of the bolts is  obstructed by the frame.

What am I missing here?

Loosen the wheel axle and caliper bracket stop bolt, slacken the chain adjusters and push forward.  Remove caliper.  Might be a good idea to remove LH exhaust first to attain a bit of working space.

You ain't seen nothing yet... until you've worked on a Laverda. They're not over-complicated, just a bit intricate. :D

Wow how to turn a simple job into a tedious one! Thanks Piet regardless.

I'm off to search for the miracle cure that doesn't involve me doing all of that, knowing that I probably won't find it.

Been there, done it... dozens of times.

Remove the caliper and hold it with the hose connection uppermost.  Route the hose so that any trapped air can rise. Remove the M/C and hold that with the bleed holes in the reservoir uppermost so air can rise and escape.  With enough fluid to cover these holes, actuate the lever just a little, you will soon see air bubbles rising.  5 minutes later the system will be bled and you will again have a defined pressure point at the lever.

I prefer to remove the entire system from the bike and perform the operation on the workbench, a lot aesier... and quicker!

If you want a quick and dirty method:

Position bike on centre stand with rear wheel over an incline, weigh down the front end remove the two lower shocks bolts. Swing arm will drop a fraction and reveal the caliper bolt for undoing.

Still doesn't uncover the rearmost bolt if the chain is past its prime.  Need to loosen the axle for that.

Yes, I just realised!

How about loosening the rear wheel spindle, undoing the adjusters and sliding the wheel forward to line up with the scollop in the swing arm?

See reply #2... :D

That'll teach me to try and do two things at once!

I think I had better get on with my Word project and concentrate on that  :D

Leave that to your wife, Simon! :D
