Drilling a 0.4mm hole in my toe nail resulted in a picturesque splash of blood over my freshly painted living room wall a few years back.... 
Looked like a prologue to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre! But it didn't hurt a bit! On the contrary, total bliss afterwards. 
Dropped a small but heavy block of steel on my foot... of course I was wearing my (safety) Adidas sneakers but they didn't work this time, somebody had forgotten to fit the steel toe cap to the left one!
