RGS Corsa fairing bracket

I am working on an RGS Corsa at the moment (Black, Black, Blaaaack, Blaaaaaaack) (Sorry, you have to have watched the Fast Show to get that one  :-[ ) which is a great bike and has actually been used properly!  :D :D :D :D :D

Unaccustomed as I am to the ways of the 120: Plastic, Fairings, Clocks, Fuel guages, Chaps, Fringed leather jockstraps etc etc; I was wondering if any of the more experienced 120 owners (now that I have completely alienated them) could handle a little query (Oops, that one just slipped out).

The fairing looks cockeyed to me - tipped over to one side and narrowed a bit.  I'm presuming it has been knocked at some time and is either just a bit out of kilter, or one side has been pushed in a bit.

Could someone please (grovelling now) tell me the distance between the two upper arms if an RGS fairing bracket please - not the plastic inner fairing, but the actual metal frame.

Many thanks
sorry for the rampant 120-ism.

Chris

You have got to kind of bend them to suit the fit of the inner and outer fairing, they are all a bit different so a finite dimension is difficult to give. The bracket should be symetrical when viewed from above, looking at where the fairing is pissed should indicate which side of the bracket is out if it is, bear in mind it can also rotate around it's front mount if knocked. The whole lot should fit together reasonably well and there are a couple of techniques to getting everything to fit right and not wobble around, bit of a strain on my powers of discriptive writing to jot down all what to do here but by all means give me a ring if you get stuck.

It goes something like this.
Fit the tubular frame, fit the inner, remove the inner, tweak the bracket, fit the inner, remove the inner, tweak the bracket(write this a hundred times, just like being at school)
Then fit the outer, remove the outer, tweak the bracket(another hundred lines)get pissed off, have a few beers, start again, work until the early hours of the morning,go to bed, dream of fitting fairing panels and brackets, wake up in a cold sweat.
Been there done that. :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

G'day Chris,
Sorry, can't help, I've got a chap who looks after those kinds of things ;)

Gents, much appreciated - I'm almost happier to hear that there isn't a science to it!

LOL Neale, very good - so, just like fitting exhausts then?

Thanks Keith, didn't want to pester you in today's phonecall - I feel guilty asking stuff when you're at work.
(totally shameless about it when you are off duty tho' !!!)  ;)
