RGS Disk Failure number 2

The first time I took my UK import Jota around the block the rear master cylinder decided to stick partly (actually mostly) closed, got progressively worse but I didn't realise what was happening until the bike wouldn't move forward. A couple of pumps freed it up, but by then the 2 piece disc was both warped and cracked. It might already have been damaged when I got it, you tend not to notice that sort of thing unless you're specifically looking for it. But it can happen with the 2 piece ones too.

Yeah but the two piece carrier/rotors aren't immune to failure...I inspected the carrier on the rear brake on #6041 and it was cracked laterally across a "spoke".

I must say i was pretty chuffed about my new rear disc (The master cylinder was replaced and i think the pistons - can you recall Ian as we did the nasty at Nth) - but the fact i've got a Coalition of the willing DoRAG - just puts me over the edge.

Drikko: you are seriously messed up for posting the 1% on the chopped triple, i can't even bring myself to comment in the appropriate thread.

Nothing is immune to failure unfortunately but the two-piece discs have a much better track record than the single casting. I never had one fail in my thirty years of Lav ownership.

Was actually Southside BSFOS 2011, speciual super quick delivery from the Wolf, new MC no pistons
