RGS rev counter - vagueometer

Afternoon from a very sunny and hot South Island of New Zealand, 25 degrees on the East coast and raining on the west......

Some years ago the rev counter on my RGS did the usual thing of waving at the rider as we traveled down the road.
Thinking I was clever I built a Japanese electronic rev counter unit into the RGS instrument pod with the RGS fascia in place.
Think it has been working OK even if it is a little slow on tick over, almost no revs.
Seems to go through the range OK but recently having calculated the speed per revs on one of the spreadsheets from here or there I am questioning the accuracy of the modified unit.

I have the original vaguelia internals and am wondering if it's best to have the weighs fitted and calibrated and expect it to wear out in a few thousand K's or to go to another electronic internal.
Any thoughts, recommendations?

Know of anyone in the southern hemisphere who can fix the veglias?

Steven

Hi Steven
I haven't used them myself, but have heard good reports and lists Veglia. Might be on the pricey side though.

A few months ago I posted up some queries regarding a RGS that I dithered over and it's instrument pod had a few problems.  I recall Piet responded that complete new units are still available.

Cheers

"some years ago" - it's about 20, isn't it steve!! i remember you looking at every jap unit in existence to find one that might fit! surely you've got used to it by now! :D :D :D :D :D

Hi Steve,        Try Parrot and Son Ltd Auto Instrument Specialist 360 St Asaph St
Ph 366 9554.    If they can't do it they will probably know someone who can.
They have previously made Veglia drive cables up for me  (I know yours is electrical)

Hi Steve,

There's this bloke in Brisbane who does what you need.

Must be half a sleep and didn't notice Jason's already posted his details. Spent too long in the vineyard yesterday (first sunny day for a month) pruning and mowing. I'm rooted.

Parratts have done Veglias for me and an Aermacchi customer - reasonable prices too.
Specify where in the range you want it accurate though - the standard veglia will usually
only be accurate over a narrow band...

got mine back 2day from otto,s-375 bucks-new perspex as well(calibrated the temp and fuel guage as well)
