Rob , 2008 we buy 10 pairs BT012SS thru OCT in 2009 5 pairs . I use them for road and racing on Jota and Nico Bakker Kawa , have new on both bikes and 4 pairs as reserve in garage . As they explained to me in OCT each importer order stock for foloving year they are produced on demand , in 2008 for Germany around 100 pairs and we bought whole stock back then (10pairs) .
Try thru them or Piet but make early order and buy few pairs so you can drive 1 or 2 seasons . In 17" on modern bikes for road i use BT016 .

Bloody Hell mate  :D  No wonder I cant find them here, you guys bought them all ... I'm not planning to go back to 18" permanently, it's just Spa this year they've outlawed 17" wheels (no idea why)..

I've been trying to find Bridgestone BT45's here in Tassie. Nobody has them.

A couple of shops made similat comments - they're good tyres and they'd like to stock them but the importers are very difficult to deal with. They'll only supply in large shipments with payment up front, which basically makes it impossible for the small end of town bike shops we have here. The only way they can source them is through other dealers, which jacks the price up.

I see on the Bridgestone website that the BT45V is a tubeless tyre. If I can get my hands on a pair, what's the general intelligence on running tubeless tyres with tubes in 'em. I guess it'll reduce the speed rating because of altered heat rejection and rotating mass. Not that the speed rating is a big deal, I won't be doing sustained high speeds.

A locally available alternative is Michelin Pilots Activ. Anyone got any opinions on them?

Cheers,
Cam

No problem running BT45s with a tube, although I always reckoned they got a bit hot.  The fronts wear in a very odd fashion (and quick) so I was going to try Avon Roadriders if I haven't fitted my GSXR rims when my current tyres are finished (I loved the Storm STs I used on my 180, Avon profile seemed to suit the bike)  Dunno about the Michelins.
