RGS timing chain support

Finally getting around to putting my RGS engine back together after a top-end overhaul. Today's question centers on the timing chain support, the bit that's fitted from the bottom and acts, I suppose, as a deflector in the even the chain fails or something. Anyway, the cupped top portion is biased, or rather offset from the center support column. Which way should the bias be positioned? I pulled it after dropping the timing chain while installing the cylinder, and while I could just reinstall it as it was, I am curious ...

The narrow, flush side, goes towards the alternator.  Look carefully and you may find a centre punch mark on the top side of the pedestal semicircle on that side.  If you put it in the other way round, the wider offset shoulder will rub on the crank.
