RPM dependent indicators

G'day all,

I took the RGS for a run today, and noticed that the indicator flash rate varies wildly with speed.
At low RPM (idle) they flash at a normal rate. But at touring RPM (3000 plus) they flash about twice as fast.
I suspect I may have a voltage regulator problem.
Has anyone else seen this, and if so, what is the most probable cause, and the easiest solution?

Regards,
Steve

I suspect you do have a voltage regulator problem!
Stick a voltmeter across the battery terminals and rev the engine; shouldn't go above 14.5 volts(ish), if it does, regulator replacement is necessary before you boil the battery dry.

Mine did that and it was the flasher unit. after checking the voltage and it being OK ,swapped the flasher as I had a spare one to hand and it fixed it,put the old one back just in-case it was dirty connections and it went back to flashing fast at anything over 2000 revs.

All,

Thanks guys, will check charging voltage when I get home, then consider replacing either regulator or the flasher unit depending on the result...

Regards from rather rainy Arnage
