Running in oil

Hello there
Has anyone got any views on what oil to use for running in new rings / bores. The two outer bores are fine after 600 miles below or at 4000rpm but oil is getting past the rings on the centre pot. It`s definitely coming past the rings and not down the guides which are fine.
So far I`ve been using Rock Oil 20/50 mineral.
Cheers, Neil

Hi Neil - have seen a few bores glaze when rebuilt with new rings and not correct honing/glaze busting method used - can really hoof out smoke and oil. i don't really run in my new pistons/rings/bores - well maybe for 5 mins. I always use a superior oil in the middle cylinder :D :D - Regards - Phil

Phil, just had the bores de-glazed so this should help.

Keith, you`re right of course. Completly the wrong oil in the centre pot. Will rectify forthwith :-\
Enlightened,
Neil

If it were mine I would take it out and run it hard, long pulls, half throttle starting at about 3k in the upper gears. As long as it was assembled properly and the clearances ok it should help seat the rings.
