Sealing Fuel Tapes.

I was going to piggyback on the brake light switch thread but didnt.
Is there any point using Teflon Thread tape on fuel tap threads fixings to the petrol tank.

Same as the brake light switch, it's designed to seal on a gasket/washer so the thread shouldn't come into it.
The nut is half left hand and half right hand thread, it confuses a lot of people.
Replace the washer and tighten it correctly = no leak
(from there at least!).

Yeah, like Steve said, there's a fibre washer that gets sandwiched between the ends of the spigots on the tank and tap. One of them on my Jota had a persistent leak a few years ago that wasn't cured by a new washer. Closer inspection revealed that there were some corrosion pits on the end of the fuel tank spigot. A tidy-up with a fine flat file got rid of the pitting and fixed the leak.

Thanks Guys, this is for my Pantah. Marty cleaned out the carbs in his ultrasonic and the taps needed doing except I had an odd right tap that worked by winding in and out a wheel. Its now a standard tap, the former was needed to run the old 25litre fibreglass Imila tank back when it was a TT2 replica. That tank died with the new fuel 10 years ago so it's now got a steel TL Pantah tank.
