SF Header balance pipe removal

I am trying to get the balance pipe on my 70 SF free so I can remove my pipes. I have tried heating with a torch many times and soaking with penetrating oil for days. Also tried a hammer and a block of wood but they don't budge. Anybody else have a solution or idea before I break out the hacksaw? >:(

Thanks, John

I've not tried this myself but if it's rust that's glued it together, you might try soaking it with a citric acid solution. That stuff dissolves rust. See if you can get the acid into the joint between the pipes and leave it overnight.

you are not trying to remove one pipe at a time are you?
if so take them off as a pair, silencers removed first, still can be tight but usually "do" able, then deal with the joint using plus gas

Had this on my SF, told Richard  Slater and he just chuckled, old problem, I ended up slowly prizing the whole system of with a wooden broom handle upright behind the balance pipe, and it came out no probs.Once its off lots of plus gas and twist the twp downpipes. I ve replaced mine with a lovely pair from Motostoriche.
