Yep - snapped cam chain at some time in the bikes history - can see marks on the inside of the cases from it.

Crank came in at 15.6KG so that is good.

Maybe a split pin came apart. Can't imagine one actually snapping. unless the tensioner broke and the chain was being twisted in some way.

I had a noisy SF come in for service with the tensioner wheel missing and half the spindle ground away and the chain hadn't snapped.

Hmm - I was thinking that the rough edges where the oil mesh fits were damage but maybe not (have not been able to find any pictures from this angle of other bikes). There were some unidentified chunks of aluminium in the sump. Everything is nice and clean now.

How do you get the sludge out of the bottom of fork legs!

How do you get the sludge out of the bottom of fork legs!

I’ve had good results by soaking with solvent (White spirit/ paraffin or similar) then whilst wearing goggles and overalls pointing the nozzle of a filled paraffin gun up the leg with the leg held upside down to drain. It’s a messy job!
