Excellent!

I reckon these cheapos are exactly what I need for my old Honda chook chaser. It hardly ever gets ridden and I've been reluctant to spend big handfuls of money on new shocks for a bike that's only worth a few hundred bucks anyway.  :D

He's only been an ebay member for a couple of weeks, but feedback (5) so far is positive. He has a reasonably comprehensive stock of items for sale. I'll wait a few more weeks and see what happens before risking all of $75  :)

Cheers,
Cam

There seems to be so much importance placed on the feedback in evilbay.
How the hell do you get started from scratch selling stuff if you have zero positive feedback?

Not everyone relies on the feedback rating, ebay manipulates it anyway.
I tried give a negative rating after a certain vendor in the U.K. tried to screw me over and ebay wouldn't let me do it!
Buying and selling is just as risky as ever on fleabay!

Grant, I've had some really good deals from ebay vendors. It's quite a useful resource.
Regards Pat.

Yeah but my point was would it deter buyers if you had no positives as it was your first sale?

I have no issue with buying from a first time seller with no feedback - sure, I notice it, but if I have PayPal protection then no issue.  I might be slightly concerned if some Spanish bloke turned up selling say..... A 1000 and 1200 Laverda with no previous feedback .... but then again you'd have to give the bloke a chance out of fairness and we could always ask Liz to check them out for us...

An interesting thing I discovered on eBay Spain is that they have a section set up for local sales, cash, apparently designed for local pickup. Kind of like Craig's List (if you don't have that, it's like online web-based classified ads, but free), but run by eBay. No protection for buyer or seller except caveat emptor. I found a Laverda part I wanted but it turned out he wanted WAY too much for it.
But it raises a point, here's a seller in Spain, no contact info except a mobile phone number, selling parts of totally unknown provenance, no feedback check possible, no PayPal. I don't have any reason to suspect that this seller is anything more than a bit naive about the value of his parts, but this would be a way a stolen Laverda could be disposed of as parts without eBay safeguards triggering an alarm.

I just bought a pair of this guy's shocks for my 1971 Honda. Dirt cheap, 2 days from payment to delivery, nice looking product (look identical to the original shocks - so just the trick for classic restorations). I'm impressed.

Sure, they're not Ohlins, but they're probably just as good as the original shocks were in 1971. For less than $100 I reckon they're bloody good value.

Cheers,
Cam
