Hello Chaps

can anyone tell me what the raised part is in the picture below? SF2 frame, there is a little bit on the right side but a lot more on the left? Is it needed? can I grind it off and make it smooth? Also what other bracing points should we be looking at beefing up?

fixed !!

... dodgy SF2 frame, ...
& i suggest it was an sfc farken replica ay?  by the position of centre-stand lugs?  so, don't get me started.  >:D

the 'standard' SF2 has the centre-stand lugs hanging down off where those raised strips are.  the leftover lugs ground off, no doubt.
the left side is more substantial as it also incorporates the rear brake lever rod boss.
could take a piccy, but that would require a cold beer.

Guessing that's another SFC wannabe coming up... ::)

Twin frames generally don't require any extra bracing, plenty strong and too bloody heavy as it is.  I'd rather be looking for stuff that can be removed without compromising stability.  Stressed engine affords all the strength at the front, not really sure the doubling of the swingarm mounts is worth the effort, unless you're building a "real" fake of course. :D  I have seen snapped swingarm pivot spindles, might be a wise idea to go to the post-74 16mm SFC type pivots if the bike is to see track use.

thanks for the advice, it has been very helpful, dare I  mention the soothing comfort received from you opinions also....

Wow, i must have read a different thread, i thought all and sundry pissed on you and you're 'knock off' frame from a great height - i was too scared to make earlier comment for fear of setting off a feeding frenzy.

You, Sir, are a God of the subtle art of Irony.  I doff my hat to you.

Respect.
