SF3 diode

Why is there a rectifier diode in the wiring loom between junction 15 and the light switch? I suspect it is used with the parking position on the ignition switch -- second position and remove key should leave parking lights on (doesn't work on my bike).

The diode looks the wrong way round on the wiring diagram -- forward biased from J15 to switch. Should this be the other way?

Can anyone clarify?

Cheers

Ok, so in park position, without this diode, the entire bike will be powered back through J14 - J15 - light switch - fuse 2. Not a good wiring layout Laverda.

The green book diagram is wrong. With diode as shown, the bike WILL be powered as described above. Possible latent failure mode here, if diode goes short circuit the bike will be powered in park but you won't know it.  :o

The park position doesn't work on my bike, don't know why. In any case, I have never wanted to use it, so I might remove the diode and disable the park thing. If I can be bothered.  8)
