Cosi, I distinctly remember somebody talking about glueing a cheapo digital automotive instrument behind an analogue Laverda faceplate, about 2 or 3 years ago? They gave some feedback about problems but iirc it did seem to work quite well, and for buggar all money too (note Antipodean coprolalia creeping in there  :D).
I did find http://www.laverdaforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=66874.0, but I thought the thread had had more detail than this one.

Cosi ya dickhead.............it was non-mech Red, formerly known as the mechanic Red type from the Western Suburbs of Brisso.

I had otto put in a new tacho mechanism into the rgs tacho, worked great till the balance weights fell off again doh! Must take it out again and go yell at him....

Red has one of those Digital trip computer Instruments, there are ones that act as a data loger as well. Not that cheap.John Wilson fitted electronic guts to a couple of stand round instruments using somthing called a step motor.

I'm assuming you'll need to put a magnet on the wheel and a sensor somewhere, I've been meaning to look at where red put it on his Jota as I need to do the same for the cruise control (snigger). Of course if that fuckbrain hadn't pissed red off red was still in here he might have taken some photos and posted it. I'll head over there during the week and see where he mounted it.

Huh,hey seppo converted, like a duc and a moto morini isn't????? Pretty sure you asked to lend my BMW the other day, mind you I promised to not mention that....oops.... :o :o :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Yair, when I had a shit box top heavy, petrol guzzling, vibrating Laverda I had a really neato set up on the rear sprocket where I drilled magnets into the sprocket bolts. Oh fuck you guys love Laverdas, I forgot. 8) 8)

Luckily, I sold it and bought a real bike. You know..........one with two cylinders.
