any ideas on wet weather pads??

Just about any sintered pad usually works better in the wet than organic pads, although this can actually be a bit of a problem if your brakes are too effective for obvious reasons. Not usually something Laverda owners have to worry about ... it's funny because I used to be amazed at how well my old 3c used to stop compared to Jappiezappies, Laverda brakes in good condition work as well as they ever did it's just that the world has moved on.
Anyway, I'm using Ferodo sintered pads with original iron discs. They work very well in torrential tropical downpours (we can get sustained rainfall of 50mm/hr all day here sometimes). Eventually the pads get soaked and take a few milliseconds to dry out, but if you're braking late or in an emergency that few milliseconds can seem like eternity. Not much you can do about it aside from touching the brakes until you feel them bite every minute or so. Sintered pads definitely don't get as wet so they dry out faster.

In torrential rain it always takes this partial eternity before they bite (depending on the urgency) It pays to ride the front brake (so to speak) occasionally to minimise the water buildup. This is preferable to panic squeezing whereby they suddenly bite and lock the front wheel because there hasn?t been the weight transfer to the front wheel. I find this regardless of sintered or organic pads. I use sintered.
Be careful not to get solvents onto the disc/pads when cleaning as this can wreck the surfaces for wet weather.

Hi Cam yep sure did catch up with Paul and Kerry it was great to see them as I hadn't seen Paul for some time due to his wierd shifts, he sure was enjoying Dons old Vincati.
Paul tells me there is a Laverda day coming up at his place are you going?
Cheers M.

G'day Maurice. Yep, I'll be going to the "Laverday" at the Dixon ranch (Sandfly del Grappa)  :D

Usually a fun day with hopefully a good bunch of Laverdas in attendance. I'm sure interstate or overseas Laverdisti would be welcome to share a barbecued snag or vino rosso at Sandfly del Grappa if any of you foriegn folk are in Tassie on 28th November. The Dixon's are usually OK with strangers arriving at their place - they haven't shot one for months.

Cheers,
Cam
