SFC Rear Brake (Again)

Hi , All
I have just done a search here looking for answers to my rear brake problems on the SFC1000.
I could not get consistent answers so I will ask directly.

1. What is the Original master cylinder fitment to the SFC Rear.
Mine has a Brembo 10.2834.02 which as far as I can tell is 15mm.
The caliper is standard P 08
The search here and elsewhere suggests that the SFC came standard with a 12mm (Brembo 10.3672.10)
Mine is black but most of the pictures I see show a gold unit.

2. I have googled the Brembo 10.3672.10 unit and can get no information . If this is the correct M/C does anyone know where I can get one?

3. If this is not the correct unit what is ?

The ratio is all wrong with the current set up and all it is good for is wiping the rust of the back disc.
Whilst I do not use my rear brake a lot it would certainly be very handy on my driveway at the farm. Those of you who have been there will know what I mean!
Thanks for your answers in advance.
Cheers

The rgs is a 12mm  so one would assume....

RGS used either 12 or 14 mm.  The intermediate lever was changed accordingly.

The stock M/Cs with 50mm mounting hole spacing are no longer available.  With a bit of luck, some NOS might turn up somewhere.  SFC1000 parts list shows the stock rear M/C to be 12mm, should work better than just for rust removal.

Thanks Guy's
Did the RGS have a remote reservoir?

Does anyone know where I can get a 50mm spaced 12mm remote M/C to suite??
Cheers

I had the same problem on my Alchemy , Bruce ,all the 11/12mm stuff was 40mm spacing. The only 50mm spacing ones I could find were 16mm units.I ended up re-welding the lugs to suit.Probably not an option for you.

Just putting my Corsa rear brake system(floating rotor/gold caliper/black m/c)back together.  There is a remote reservoir mounted behind/above the battery on the inner rear fender. Looks line the front reservoir.

Both RGS and SFC 1000 have remote reservoirs for the rear M/C, won't interchange though.  RGS unit is directly operated by a pushrod, the SFC unit has a lever perch integral with the M/C casting.

I've seen 40mm types being adapted with a little bracket to relocate one of the mounting points.

Thanks guys,
Looks like there is not a easy fix for this.
I really want to go to a 12mm one so I will have to get creative by the sounds of it!

I may have a 2nd hand unit, would need to check

was looking through my photos to have a look at the right hand side of your bike to see if we could adapt our new master cylinder bracket to fit
found I have 33 photos of the left side of your bike and none of the right side
if the bracket fits we can go 11mm master cylinder

Red,
Here is a pic of the RHS of the bike.
As you can see the current arrangement is just mounted on an alloy plate.
Not much bling about the current setup.
Cheers

I have this master cylinder on SFC 1000.

At least on lower speeds the rear brake seem to have enought power. But it has no touch at all,
very opposite to the front brake. I have Ferodo FDB108 linings on all calipers and original discs.
Liquids are changed periodically. Any suggestions what to do for it?

does this mean at long last (its only taken me 35+ years) that people are admitting that the Laverda rear disc on triples is crap?
maybe the rose tinted specs have been bleached clear by 35 years of sun

Keith (Laverda Scozia) has the answer for RGS's, I recently rode a bike that was re-commisioned by Higgy of Viking motorcycles in Bromley Kent (it was a Corsa) and he had fitted a jap master cylinder as recommended by Keith this is how the conversation went when I came back on the bike

brilliant I like it especially the rear brake, what have you done to it

nothing really, just fitted a seal kit, new pads and hoses plus new fluid

No, you definitely changed something, I have ridden maybe ten Corsa/SFC1000's ( and dozens of RGS's) and this rear brake is fab

well the disc was a bit warped so we fitted a new one, old stock from a bloke in Italy

That is definitely not it, I am sure that something is changed and because of the side cover I cant really see what

Oh yes we did, didn't we (turning to his oppo) I think, yes yes, Keith recommended a change to an XYZ master cylinder (Cant recall which)

That's it, well worth fitting no matter what the cost the best Laverda rear disc braked triple I have ever experienced ( and the only one which actually does what it is supposed to do)
CLEM

PS is this something that you can fill us in on Keith
Pps have you got a similar cure for 180 triples with right side gear change?
CLEM

When I spoke to Keith last week he recommended a Brembo one for a Yamaha R6. It has 40mm centres between the mounting rather than the standard 50mm, so you need to drill a new mounting hole.

Haven't tried it yet, but intend to this year as my current one needs a total refurb (and the replacement is probably cheaper and easier!)

On the Jota, I have a 1/2" master from a GSX-R, fitted to the GSX-R original caliper etc. matching the GSX-R-Wheels. Works well enough to block the 150/70-18 BT012SS...

Same configuration on the 1000 SFC with the original (I think 12mm master) doesn't block the rear tire at all.  >:(

will make up a bracket and a kind of baffle to change the pull-rod to a push-rod actuation during the restoration of the SFC, will see how it goes then...
