BTW: I talked to Max Mahlmeister, a well known Laverda Owner and instrument rebuilder. He said that the gearing of the kilometer counter does work almost accurately on these Veglias, only they forgot to alter the adjustment of the needle showing the actual speed. This means, it is a relatively easy job regarding adjustment, but it really takes someone to have the right tools to a) calibrate and b) re-assemble the whole thing.
As said several times, I have put a GPS-System on my 1000 SFC and compared it to the actual reading and there is a difference of roughly 20% in top gear. in low end, it is even more (at 50Km/h, it shows just around 65km/h, so almost 30%).
I would let them adjust it to the km/h or mph you are mostly endangered to lose your license at.
