Shattered Triplex rollers

Hey Fellas ,

Clocked up a few k,s on the JOTA recently , plus a track w/end so thought Id take the primary
case off for look see.... :-X found a few broken rollers from the chain in their, and a very sloppy
chain, bugger. Looked in me little book chain done 30,000 ks so guess it was due for the bin anyway!!

If you read this Andy i would like to get hold of your merc duplex chain ?  ;) will send you a pm

Just for interest sake the chain was stamped KCM 06B Japan  ( Endless chain)

This the very reason I recommend the Merc chain.

Firstly there are no rollers and secondly the vast majority of triplex 06B-3 on the market is crap.

I used to sell Tsubaki which worked well on Vincents but after a couple of failures, I believe Sprockets Unlimited had one as well,
I checked the current Tsubaki against some old stock.......totally different. They of course denied it and then managed to loose the broken sample.

I now only sell IRIS 06B-3 which again works well on Vincents.

The Merc chain is a better all round product but the set up on Vincents means they cannot go to it. It will be a bugger if IRIS stop making the chain.

its a queer old thing that Vincent primary chain isnt it Andy, I mean the front sprocket has three rows of teeth which all drive, and the clutch has two teeth, with the third row being used to drive something else?, guess who has been speeking to a long term Vincent owner? (more than 600,00 miles and 56 continuos years of ownership)

I am repairing an engine for this Vin owner currently (its a Lav 1200 anni triple) and he will be talking to you  soon,(his name is John and he is 74) since he will need a timing chain, I have one in stock (of course) but he wants to go through the split roller/solid roller thing with you, I have tried and failed, since many moons ago he had several failures of split roller type chains, but that might have been 40 years ago!

Rear chain and cam will be shipped on Monday, he said 108 but should it be 106?

Timing chain will be iwis split roller, I beat him into submission, just got to do the same with Keith :D :D :D :D :D.

Same chain G67WZ goes on just about all Merc and BMW plus just about every Lotus twin cam and used to power the Infiniti Pro series motors for a season. Please you dis believers I will not sell an industrial product when there is a super automotive chain.
