Shindengen regulator

Does anyone know if I can use a Shindengen SH530-12K 8.D regulator on my 83 RGS? It has six wires instead of four; three yellow, brown, black and white/red. My stock unit has white/red, green/white, yellow and red.

There should be 1 or 2 more wires on the stock unit. but it doesn't matter, the 3 wires from the alternator go to the 3 yellow wires on the regulator, doesn't matter which way around these 3 are, the black wire goes to ground, the white/red wire goes to the battery positive, the brown wire goes to the switched ignition +ve which you will find at the fuse box.

Thanks. There was a wire I didn't see before removing the RR, a ground strap. No brown wire. I've since been given a universal RR (no name, bears number ZQ580A-12 and presumably Chinese) a friend got as part of an unrealized update plan for his 67 Triumph T100. It's physically identical to the Nippon Denso I removed. This one has three yellow, a red and a green, and I'm assuming the green is the ground strap.

I was looking for a new regulator few weeks ago, but in the end I didn't need one. It was just a nearly broken wire on the connector.

Anyway, here's a cheap Chinese regulator. A friend of mine is using it on a Laverda. Works just fine.

If someone is looking for a Nippon Denso like regulator, here's one.

Blimey, there's some cheap stuff coming out of China.  Only $8 for a regulator rectifier  :o

If it works, great. Even if id doesn't last long, you could afford to have a couple of spares in your pocket! At that price you could treat it as a consumable item.

I like the way they haven't bothered to crimp the ring connector on the wire... but yes that will work fine, and if you only have 2 wires coming from your alternator just leave one of the yellow wires unconnected.
