Smiths digital speedo

The speedo on my 750 SF is not working, on investigating I found that the splines in the wheel hub were gone, this is obviously not a straightforward fix, so I thought about fitting a digital look alike, just wondered if anybody else has gone down this route and is it a sensible solution.

Many thanks

Not impossible to fix (helical gear is a press fit on the hub) - and you may find it no more expensive than a digital alternative.  Dunno about the Smiths unit, but certainly the digital option works well (Motogadget in my case).  I thought one pulse per wheel rev might not be sufficiently responsive...but it is!

is fairly straight forward to replace the ring gear on the hub, is a press fit
if your unit is stripped then there is no need to be careful when removing it which makes life easier

or buy a dual purpose gauge from Speedhut in USA, tacho and GPS speedo unit in the one gauge, you can even design your own gauge on their website
great value for money and work well, saves having to stuff around with wheel sensors which can be difficult to hide
