Starter idler gear

Is the series 2 starter idler gear the same as on the series 1 engines?

The Sprag clutch on the series 2 has different size roller-plungers to the series 1. Other than that they are the same as far as I am aware.

The idler gears are different, the larger gear is the same as both starters will fit it, but the drive to the freewheel has a different tooth count.

Piet is the Sprag clutch unit the same for both series one and series 2. I'm getting confused now..but then that isn't too difficult these days lol

Not the same Joe.

MkI unit has 8mm rollers, MkII has 10mm with differing freewheel diameters. 

Quite strange really, the early type rarely gives problems whereas the later is full of them!

That tallies with my experience Piet. I have the Mk1 and I bought a set of rollers and they were too big...
